The Classification of California Viscaceae: An Alternative Perspective

Abstract The classification of Viscaceae in the second edition of the Jepson Manual (TJM2) differs radically from that in the first edition of the Jepson Manual (TJM1). The number of species of Arceuthobium M. Bieb. was reduced from 12 in TJM1 to three in TJM2, and for Phoradendron Nutt. reduced from seven species to four.

M. C. Johnston incorrect. Although of minor economic importance, the name of the American mistletoe cannot be conserved through provisions of Art.

A revision of the Viscaceae of Australia.

The Australian Viscaceae comprise 3 genera, Viscum, Notothixos and Korthalsella, and 14 species. A further 2 species of Korthalsella are endemic to Norfolk and Lord Howe Islands respectively. None of the genera and only 7 of the species are endemic to Australia. Three species are described as new, viz. Korthalsella emersa, K.

Both Viscum macrofalcatum and V. hainanense are monoecious plants with inflorescences axillary, usually 3–5 flowers in one cyme, the middle one male, outer ones females. Phoradendron longicaule (Viscaceae): a new species from Michoacán, Mexico

Phoradendron longicaule (Viscaceae), a new, nearly leafless species of mistletoe from the Infiernillo-Zicuirán Biosphere Reserve of southern Michoacán, Mexico, is described and illustrated.  It occurs in a tropical deciduous forest at elevations of 400 to 500 m, and all known hosts belong to Fabaceae.
