Gut Enterococcus faecium derived leucic acid mediates the antiobesity effect of dietary fiber

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
This study identified Enterococcus faecium as a gut bacterium with anti‐obesity activity, which alleviated adipocyte hypertrophy, dyslipidemia, and hepatic steatosis by converting leucine into leucic acid (LEA) to regulate mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation.

Bidirectional association between visceral adiposity and obstructive sleep apnoea: longitudinal findings from the Wisconsin Sleep Cohort

open access: yes
Background Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a prevalent sleep disorder strongly associated with metabolic syndrome. Visceral adiposity is the principal culprit of the metabolic syndrome leading to the development

Research Progress of Berberine in Kidney Disease: Targeting Mitochondria and Ferroptosis

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
This figure illustrates the model‐specific renoprotective mechanisms of berberine (BBR) across three major kidney diseases. From left to right, the diagram shows that BBR targets distinct core pathways depending on the pathological context: in diabetic nephropathy (DN), BBR activates AMPK to improve mitochondrial energy metabolism; in acute kidney ...

Assessing Metabolic and Reproductive Consequences of Prenatal Paracetamol Exposure in Female CD1 Mice

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paracetamol is a widely used analgesic during pregnancy; however, emerging evidence suggests it may act as an endocrine/metabolism disrupting compound. Using an F1 female CD1 mouse model, this study scrutinized the long‐term metabolic and reproductive consequences linked to intrauterine paracetamol exposure.

Study of Risk Factors and Image Findings of Isolated Abdominal Incidentally Detected Aortic Dissection

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, Volume 53, Issue 3, Page 429-435, March/April 2025.
We detect the risk factors and image characteristics of incidentally detected IAAD. Independent risk factors of IAAD included fatty liver and smoking. In the ultrasound findings of IAAD, an intimal flap was frequently observed. In the CT scan, displacement of intimal calcifications was frequently observed. For suspected IAAD, the abdominal aorta should

The Enteric Nervous System: An Integrative Hub From Development to Systemic Physiology

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, EarlyView.
Unlike a static hardwired circuit, the ENS continuously remodels its transcriptional programs and synaptic connectivity in response to three ecological forces: microbial metabolites, immune cell signals and enteroendocrine cues. ABSTRACT The enteric nervous system (ENS) constitutes the largest and most functionally autonomous subdivision of the ...
