Review on Blood Flow Dynamics in Lab-on-a-Chip Systems: An Engineering Perspective

open access: yesChem & Bio Engineering
Under different transport mechanisms, blood flow dynamics, heavily linked to the flow shear rate conditions, in “lab-on-a-chip” (LOC) systems are found to result in varying transport phenomena.

MHD natural convection flow of viscoelastic fluid over an accelerating permeable surface with thermal radiation and heat source or sink: Spectral Homotopy Analysis Approach

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2018
An analysis is presented to study the effects of viscous dissipation and viscoelastic parameter on MHD natural convection flow of viscoelastic fluid over an accelerating permeable surface with thermal radiation and heat source/sink.

Viscoelastic Flows of Cholesteric Liquid Crystals

open access: yesMolecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 2007
We numerically solve the hydrodynamic equations of motion for a cholesteric liquid crystal under an imposed Poiseuille flow, by means of lattice Boltzmann simulations. The elasticity of the cholesteric helix couples to the external flow to give rise to a highly viscoelastic flow.

Flow of viscoelastic fluid in curved tube (Visualization of flow in curved tube and analytical optimization by finite element method)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
In the present study we report the flow characteristics of a steady flow of viscoelastic fluid in a curved pipe of 90 degree bend. The liquid mode consideration is a model-fluid, which is newly made to investigate the viscoelastic fluid.

Dean flow velocity of viscoelastic fluids in curved microchannels

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
Curved microchannels take advantage of inertial and Dean drag forces to achieve size-based separation of particles and cells. Despite the reported numerical and experimental correlations for Dean velocity (VDe) of Newtonian fluids, comprehensive studies ...

Radiation and viscoelastic flow

open access: yesInternational Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 1999
Abstract Steady flow of an elastico-viscous fluid by the presence of radiation is considered. Numerical solution for the temperature field is obtained. The temperature profiles are shown graphically for different values of the radiation parameter.

Viscoelastic fluid flow through an annulus with relaxation, retardation effects and external heat source/sink

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2018
Analysis of unsteady hydro-magnetic viscoelastic fluid flow through an annulus (bounded by two infinite co-axial circular cylinders) has been made in presence of radiation, periodic pressure gradient and external heat source/sink.

Significant consequences of heat generation/absorption and homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions in second grade fluid due to rotating disk

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
Flow of second grade fluid by a rotating disk with heat and mass transfer is discussed. Additional effects of heat generation/absorption are also analyzed. Flow is also subjected to homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions.
