Shear viscoelasticity of suspensions of biological cells with viscoelastic membrane
Biorheology, 1984To discuss the relaxation phenomena of biological cell suspensions, we have calculated the complex intrinsic viscosity of the dispersion of spherical cells with a viscoelastic membrane as a function of the frequency taking account of interfacial tension at both the interfaces of the membrane.

Curing and viscoelasticity of vitrimers
Soft Matter, 2017We present an experimental investigation of the curing kinetics and viscoelasticity for a number of "vitrimers" recently developed by Leibler and coworkers.1-3 Vitrimers are covalently crosslinked networks that can relax stress at elevated temperatures due to thermoreversible bond-exchange reactions.

Viscoelastic micropolar continuum and viscoelastic waves
Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 1976Generalized Kelvin model is applied to isotropic viscoelastic micropolar continuum. Constitutive equations in integral and differential form, generalized Lame equations, and wave equations for displacement and microrotation are derived for this model. For damped viscoelastic waves, which are realized in the continuum under examination, the wave vectors

We study wall and center migration of viscoelastic droplets in a Poiseuille flow of viscoelastic medium (PVP) at low Reynolds numbers (Re ≪ 1) and propose the existence of a new lift force whose origin lies in the viscoelasticity of the droplet phase.

Dynamics of a viscoelastic cylinder on a viscoelastic half-space
Acta Mechanica, 2020The deceleration of a viscoelastic cylinder rolling with slipping on a viscoelastic half-space of the same material without driving forces and torques is studied. The interaction of the cylinder and the half-space is described from the solution of the 2D quasistatic contact problem of viscoelasticity (Goryacheva in J Appl Math Mech 37(5):877–885, 1973,

Swelling of viscoelastic matrices by viscoelastic fluids
2018A typical example of viscoelastic matrices is represented by polymeric particles devoted to the controlled release of active agents (drugs) that swell when put in contact with an external solvent, typically a physiological medium. Although, in general, physiological fluids can be considered Newtonian, this is not always the case, let us consider, for ...

The mechanics of polymers offers a variety of emerging technical problems ranging from basic properties characterization to simulation of complex manufacturing operations. Of particular importance are the means of expressing nonlinear constitutive equations for solids with evolving states of damage.

Experiments on Viscoelasticity
American Journal of Physics, 1956The propagation of sound waves in rubber strips is used to illustrate visco-elastic behavior. The experiments introduce time-dependent mechanical properties of solids at a level suitable for use in undergraduate laboratories.
