Multifunctional viscosity index improvers
Journal of Chemical Technology & Biotechnology, 1994AbstractStyrene alkylmethacrylate succinimide phosphoric acid additives are synthesised and evaluated for use in multigrade crankcase lubricating oils as multifunctional viscosity index improvers having both antioxidant and dispersant properties. The synthesis is based on reacting styrene alkylmethacrylate (prepared by the reaction of styrene and 2 ...

A critical approach to viscosity index
Fuel, 2009The viscosity index (VI) is a useful tool for lubricant users and refiners, since it is a measure of the effect of temperature changes on the viscosity of the oil. However, it was found that the viscosity index does not correlate with the flow activation energy Ea, which is the theoretically defined dependence of the viscosity on temperature.

Intrinsic relationship between viscosity, viscosity index, and molecular structure of isoalkanes
Journal of Molecular Modeling, 2023Viscosity and viscosity index are the crucial properties of lubricant base stocks. Molecular dynamics simulation and quantum calculation were used to simulate the five isomers of C26H54 to study the intrinsic relationship between viscosity, viscosity index, and the molecular structure of isoalkanes.
