The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Predicting the Viscosity of Ester Biolubricants by the Functional Groups of Their Compounds Using a Sensitivity Parameter Model

open access: yesLubricants
Oleic-based trimethylolpropane (TMP) ester mixtures can be produced via esterification reaction between oleic acid (OA) and TMP, presenting important application as biobased lubricants.

On the Gravitational Collapse of a Gas Cloud in Presence of Bulk Viscosity

open access: yes, 2007
We analyze the effects induced by the bulk viscosity on the dynamics associated to the extreme gravitational collapse. Aim of the work is to investigate whether the presence of viscous corrections to the evolution of a collapsing gas cloud influence the ...

Tribological behaviour of polyalphaolefins: wear and rolling contact fatigue tests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Polyalphaolefin fluids are gaining rapid acceptance as high-performance lubricants and functional fluids because they have certain inherent, and highly desirable, characteristics relative to mineral oils.

An analytical model for gas overpressure in slug-driven explosions:insights into Strombolian volcanic eruptions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Strombolian eruptions, common at basaltic volcanoes, are mildly explosive events that are driven by a large bubble of magmatic gas (a slug) rising up the conduit and bursting at the surface.

An Inkjet‐Printed Platinum‐Based Temperature Sensing Element on Polyimide Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An inkjet‐printed, meander‐structured, nanoparticle platinum‐based resistive temperature sensors on polyimide substrates are demonstrated as proof‐of‐concept. Optimized sintering at 250°C enables stable conductive structures. The Pt100‐ and Pt1000‐type sensors exhibit linear resistance–temperature characteristics with stable TCR in the 20°C–80°C range,

An experimental investigation of rheological characteristics of non- Newtonian nanofluids [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Heat and Mass Transfer Research, 2014
Rheological characteristics of Al2O3, CuO and TiO2 nano particles were investigated in oil asthe base fluid at 1 and 2 wt.%. Constitutive relations for non-Newtonian fluid were discussedbased on the power-law model. Measured viscosities of each nanofluid

Index matching between passive and active tellurite glasses for use in microstructured fiber lasers: Erbium doped lanthanum-tellurite glass [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Active and passive variants of La-containing tellurite glasses have been developed with matched refractive indices. The consequences of adding lanthanum to the glass was studied through measurements of the crystallization stability, glass viscosity and ...
