Polyhedral units and network connectivity in calcium aluminosilicate glasses from high-energy x-ray diffraction

open access: yes, 2000
Structure factors for Cax/2AlxSi1-xO2 glasses (x=0,0.25,0.5,0.67) extended to a wave vector of magnitude Q= 40 1/A have been obtained by high-energy x-ray diffraction. For the first time, it is possible to resolve the contributions of Si-O, Al-O and Ca-O

Effects of water and fluorine on the viscosity of albite melt at high pressure: a preliminary investigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The viscosities of fluorine- and water-bearing melts based on albite composition have been determined at 7.5, 15 and 22.5 kbar by the falling-sphere method. All melt viscosities decrease isothermally with increasing pressure.

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Investigation of the Tribological Effects of Nano-Sized Transition Metal Oxides on a Base Oil Containing Pour Point Depressant and Viscosity Modifier

open access: yesChemEngineering
This study investigates the tribological effects of nano-sized metal oxides (ZrO2, CuO, Y2O3 and TiO2) in Group III type base oil containing 0.3% pour point depressant (PPD) and 5% viscosity modifier (VM) to enhance friction and wear performance.

Pressure- and Temperature-Dependent Viscosity Measurements of Lubricants With Polymeric Viscosity Modifiers [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The pressure-viscosity coefficient, α, is a measure of the pressure dependence of the viscosity of the liquid in elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL). There seems to be confusion around the understanding of the pressure-viscosity response in the inlet zone.

Effect of Cr2O3 content on viscosity and phase structure of chromium-containing high-titanium blast furnace slag

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
For several years, ordinary vanadium-titanium magnetite has been rapidly consumed because of its use in smelting. Thus, sources of chromium-containing vanadium-titanium magnetite will need to be developed and utilized in the future.
