Reduction of Viscosity in Suspension of Swimming Bacteria
Physical Review Letters, 2009Measurements of the shear viscosity in suspensions of swimming Bacillus subtilis in free-standing liquid films have revealed that the viscosity can decrease by up to a factor of 7 compared to the viscosity of the same liquid without bacteria or with nonmotile bacteria.

Viscosity Reduction of Heavy Oil by Ultrasonic
Petroleum Chemistry, 2020In this paper, the effect of ultrasonic wave was evaluated on viscosity and pour point of heavy oil. The effects of time, temperature and power on the viscosity reduction of heavy oil were tested at first. The results showed that ultrasonic wave can reduce the viscosity of the heavy oil from Jinghe Oilfield effectively with the highest viscosity ...

Experimental Investigation of Emulsifying Viscosity Reduction of a New Viscosity Breaker
Advanced Materials Research, 2014In this paper, alkyl polyglucoside (APG) and fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether (AEO3) were prepared to obtain a new type of soluble viscosity reducer which can change the rheological behavior of the crude oil and reduce its viscosity using method of emulsification viscosity reduction.

Reduction of blood viscosity following plasma exchange
Atherosclerosis, 1979The effect of plasma exchange with plasma protein fraction on blood viscosity was determined in seven hyperlipoproteinaemic patients with coronary or peripheral vascular disease. This resulted in decreases in whole blood viscosity of 83% and 30% respectively at the lowest and highest shear rates studied, and decreases of 21% and 59% in plasma viscosity

Viscosity Reduction of Heavy Oil
2018The exploitation and transportation of heavy oil has been a challenging task due to its high viscosity and poor fluidity. To address these issues, it is necessary to study the properties and viscosity reduction methods of heavy oil. In this chapter, the composition and source of viscosity of heavy oil are introduced.

Viscosity reduction of pretreated softwood by endoglucanases
Journal of Chemical Technology & Biotechnology, 2018AbstractBACKGROUNDCost‐effective processing of lignocellulosic biomass into sugar derived products, such as biofuels or biochemicals, needs to be performed at high water insoluble solid (WIS) loading. However, the difficult rheology of such materials presents significant challenges.

Reduction in Viscosity of Cystic Fibrosis Sputum in Vitro by Gelsolin
Science, 1994Obstruction of airways by viscous sputum causes lung damage in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). Sputum samples from CF patients were shown to contain filamentous actin. Human plasma gelsolin, a protein that severs actin filaments, rapidly decreased the viscosity of CF sputum samples in vitro.

Influence of acute reduction of blood viscosity on endothelial function
Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, 2019BACKGROUND: The relationship between blood viscosity (BV) and endothelial function is rather complex. An increase in BV causes an increase in blood flow resistance, with negative hemodynamic effects; on the other hand, a moderate increase in BV causes an increase in wall stress shear (WSS), and consequent ...
