Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Global Existence and Blow-Up for the Classical Solutions of the Long-Short Wave Equations with Viscosity

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2021
We are concerned with the global existence of classical solutions for a general model of viscosity long-short wave equations. Under suitable initial conditions, the existence of the global classical solutions for the viscosity long-short wave equations ...

Enhanced Gamma Radiation Shielding Using Epoxy Quartz Fabric Composites Reinforced With CoCl2 Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The growing demand for lightweight, nontoxic, and multifunctional gamma shielding materials has intensified efforts to find alternatives to conventional lead and aluminum‐based protectants. In this work, we develop epoxy quartz fabric composites reinforced with cobalt chloride (CoCl2) microparticles, fabricated via hand lay‐up with varying filler ...

Piezoresistive Monitoring of Carbon Nanomaterial‐Reinforced Epoxy Composites Under Cyclic and Fatigue Loading: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon nanomaterial‐reinforced epoxy composites exhibit pronounced piezoresistive behavior, enabling intrinsic damage sensing under cyclic and fatigue loading. This review critically compares carbon nanotube and graphene systems, correlating filler content, percolation threshold, and gauge factor with sensing stability and damage evolution.

BENCHMARK SOLUTIONS FOR STOKES EQUATIONS WITH VARIABLE VISCOSITY IN CYLINDRICAL AND SPHERICAL COORDINATES [PDF]

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник информационных технологий, механики и оптики, 2016
Stokes flows in cylindrical and spherical geometry are considered. Such flows are rather natural for geophysics. We derive some exact particular solutions of Stokes and continuity equations for particular dependence of viscosity and density on ...

Viscoelastic Properties of Hyaluronan in Physiological Conditions [version 1; referees: 2 approved]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2015
Hyaluronan (HA) is a high molecular weight glycosaminoglycan of the extracellular matrix (ECM), which is particularly abundant in soft connective tissues. Solutions of HA can be highly viscous with non-Newtonian flow properties.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Viscosity solutions of Eikonal equations on topological networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we introduce a notion of viscosity solutions for Eikonal equations defined on topological networks. Existence of a solution for the Dirichlet problem is obtained via representation formulas involving a distance function associated to the ...

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...
