Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 51, 11 September 2026.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

Thermal and Bioconvective Modeling and Analysis of Unsteady Cu‐Water Nanofluid Flow through Porous Media with Gyrotactic Microorganisms

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 9, September 2026.
The current study investigated unsteady boundary layer flow of a Cu/H2O$$ \mathrm{Cu}/{\mathrm{H}}_2\mathrm{O} $$ nanofluid over an expanding sheet embedded in a Darcy porous medium, containing gyrotactic microorganisms. The model includes heat source effects, unsteadiness, buoyancy, slip conditions, and nanoparticle radius.

Mild and viscosity solutions to semilinear parabolic path-dependent PDEs

open access: yes, 2016
We study and compare two concepts for weak solutions to semilinear parabolic path-dependent partial differential equations (PPDEs). The first is that of mild solutions as it appears, e.g., in the log-Laplace functionals of historical superprocesses. The aim of this paper is to show that mild solutions are also solutions in a viscosity sense.

Thermal Behavior of Radiative Darcy–Forchheimer Nanofluid Flow With Heat Source/Sink Effects

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 9, September 2026.
Radiative Darcy–Forchheimer nanofluid flow in a porous medium is numerically analyzed with heat source/sink effects. Radiation enhances heat transfer and boundary layer thickness, while increasing Forchheimer resistance suppresses velocity, providing insights for optimizing thermal management in high‐temperature porous systems.

Approximate Reachability for Feedback Linearizable Systems

open access: yesOptimal Control Applications and Methods, Volume 47, Issue 5, Page 1062-1082, September/October 2026.
The backwards reachable set for a dynamical system is the set of states for which there exists a constraint admissible trajectory that reaches a given terminal set. Conventional grid‐based approaches for computing these sets are intractable for many applications.

Viscosity solutions for PDEs

open access: yes
This thesis deals with the theory of \textit{viscosity solutions}, a powerful and elegant framework for analyzing partial differential equations (PDEs) that may not admit solutions in the classical sense.

A review of numerical methods for flow and transport modeling in the vadose zone

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, Volume 25, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
Abstract Accurate modeling of subsurface flow and transport processes in the vadose zone, governed by the Richards equation and advection‐dispersion equation, respectively, poses major numerical challenges due to the strong nonlinearity of the governing partial differential equations, spatial heterogeneity and anisotropy of the media parameters, and ...
