Viscous dissipation at the Venus ionopause

Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1982
A study of the effects of the transfer of momentum of the shocked solar wind to the Venus ionosphere near the terminator region is presented. It is shown that the deficiency of momentum flux within the velocity boundary layer in the ionosheath is comparable to the momentum flux present in the upper ionosphere near the terminator.

Accounting Viscous Dissipation at Round Tubes Filling

Key Engineering Materials, 2016
The fountain nonisothermal flow of a viscous fluid realized during circular pipe filling is investigated. The mathematical basis of the process is formed by equations of motion, continuity and energy with respective initial and boundary conditions with due account of the temperature dependence of viscosity, the presence of a free boundary and ...

Viscous Dissipation Caused by a Sphere

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1956
Recent studies have led to a satisfactory solution to the problem of acoustic streaming in the vicinity of a sphere for s/a≪1, where s is the oscillation amplitude, and a is the radius of the sphere. The results of these studies have now been applied to the calculation of the inherent energy losses. The energies in the dc vortices and in the primary ac

Magnetorheological rotational flow with viscous dissipation

Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials, 2017
Effects of a magnetic field and fluid nonlinearity are investigated for the rotational flow of the Carreau-type fluid while viscous dissipation is taken into account. The governing motion and energy balance equations are coupled, adding complexity to the already highly correlated set of differential equations. The numerical solution is obtained for the

Thermoconvective instability induced by viscous dissipation

2012
The effect of viscous dissipation may be the sole cause of a thermoconvective instability either in a fluid clear of solid material or in a fluid-saturated porous medium. Several recent investigations have recently contributed to illustrate this result under different flow and thermal conditions.
