Impact of environmental pollution on the retrieval of AOD products from Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) over wuhan

Atmospheric Pollution Research, 2019
Abstract Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) is a next-generation polar-orbiting operational environmental sensor, and its aerosol optical depth (AOD) data has been widely applied to ground-level PM2.5 prediction and air pollution research. However, VIIRS performance affects the accuracy of prediction.

Spatial and temporal variation of Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS)-derived aerosol optical thickness over Shandong, China

International Journal of Remote Sensing, 2014
Spatial and temporal variations in regional aerosol optical thickness (AOT) at 550 nm over Shandong Province, China, based on one year’s Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) data were investigated. The regional forest background (FB) annual mean AOT was 0.467 with a standard deviation of 0.339, which was much higher than the North America ...

Determination of response versus scan angle for the NOAA-20 visible infrared imaging radiometer suite thermal emissive bands from emissive radiation measurements during the pitch maneuver

open access: yesJournal of Applied Remote Sensing, 2019
The visible infrared imaging radiometer suite (VIIRS) is a key sensor onboard the newly launched (November 18, 2017) NOAA-20 satellite and the early launched Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (SNPP) satellite.

Suomi-NPP visible infrared imaging radiometer suite (VIIRS) calibration uncertainty its effect on trends in the ocean color data record (Conference Presentation)

Earth Observing Systems XXII, 2017
The NASA Ocean Color calibration team continued to reanalyze and improve on their approach to the on-orbit calibration of the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS), aboard the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (NPP) satellite, now five years into its Earth Observation mission.

Status of the Suomi NPP visible/infrared imager radiometer suite's (VIIRS) land environmental data records (EDRs) after early evaluation of on-orbit performance

2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012
The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) is a comprehensive multispectral imager covering the spectral range between 0.4 µm and 12.0 µm. It obtains full global coverage using a ∼3000 km swath on a daily basis in 22 spectral bands at nadir spatial resolutions between 0.38 km and 0.76 km.

Influence of atmospheric turbulence on the visible infrared imaging radiometer suite (VIIRS) day/night band (DNB) low light calibration with ground based light source

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
The atmospheric turbulence effects on the light field at the altitude of the VIIRS from a ground based Lambertian source were investigated. It has been shown theoretically that the radiant intensity follows the Lambert’s law despite of turbulent perturbations.
