Turboboosting Visible Light Backscatter Communication
Proceedings of the Annual conference of the ACM Special Interest Group on Data Communication on the applications, technologies, architectures, and protocols for computer communication, 2020Visible light backscatter communication (VLBC) presents an emerging low power IoT connectivity solution with spatial reuse and interference immunity advantages over RF-based (backscatter) technologies. State-of-the-art VLBC systems employ COTS LCD shutter as optical modulator, whose slow response fundamentally throttles its data rate to sub-Kbps, and ...

Shore-to-Undersea Visible Light Communication
Wireless Personal Communications, 2017In this paper, a novel visible light based shore-to-undersea (S2US) communication is proposed. It considers various properties of both maritime and undersea environments such as wave height, wind speed, and absorption. A lighthouse transmits the signal using white light emitting diodes (LEDs) and this signal is received by a buoy that acts as a beacon ...

About Lighting Level of the Visible Light Communication
2018 IEEE 7th Global Conference on Consumer Electronics (GCCE), 2018In visible light communication in which information is superimposed on light, its communication range is visible. On the other hand, when the modulation that brightness is changed according to information is used, it is not good for the human eye because human feels flicker for the changed brightness.

Delay Analysis for Visible Light Communications
2019 13th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS), 2019In this paper, we derive packet’s waiting time and total delay for Visible light Communications (VLC). Our analysis is valid for Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) in the presence and absence of channel coding. We assume Poisson arriving packets with rate $\lambda$. Each packet has to wait in the queue to be served.

Visible light communication applications in healthcare
Technology and Health Care, 2016With the development in science, methods of communication are also improved, replacing old ones with new advanced ways in an attempt to make data transfer more secure, safer for health, and time as well as cost efficient. One of such methods is Visible Light Communication, as the name implies data is transferred through a light equipment such as ...

Filtered-OFDM for Visible Light Communications
2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC Workshops), 2018In visible light communications (VLCs), adaptive Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems can adjust the transmission parameters according to channel estimation results to improve the system performance. Filtered-OFDM (F-OFDM) is a new flexible and adaptive technology based on OFDM systems and can further improve the system performance.

Visible light communication using OFDM
2nd International Conference on Testbeds and Research Infrastructures for the Development of Networks and Communities, 2006. TRIDENTCOM 2006., 2006In this paper wireless communication using white, high brightness LEDs (light emitting diodes) is considered. In particular, the use of OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) for intensity modulation is investigated. The high peak-to-average ratio (PAR) in OFDM is usually considered a disadvantage in radio frequency transmission systems due ...

Elements of Visible Light Communication Research
Proceedings of the 4th ACM Workshop on Visible Light Communication Systems, 2017Visible light communication (VLC) has gained great attention from both the industry and the academia as it can potentially provide a solution to alleviate the congestion in the wireless spectrum, offloading the ever-increasing data traffic to the untamed optical spectrum while taking advantage of the pervasive lighting infrastructure. On the other hand,
