To the Editor:— In regard to skiing and eye injuries ( 194 :477, 1965), the answer given regarding eye injuries in skiing by I. E. Hendryson, MD, was that eye injuries are not particularly common. He recommended that the patient in question be advised not to ski because of possible lack of depth perception associated with monocular vision.

Cylindrical surface localization in monocular vision

Abstract In this paper we present a method to localize a cylindral surface with only one perspective view. Based on a priori knowledge we find two axes in the image in order to obtain the three rotation angles between the cylindrical surface coordinate system and the camera coordinate system. Carotid artery disease is estimated to affect 30% of persons older than 50. Risk factors include hypertension, cigarette smoking, hyperlipidemia and diabetes mellitus.
