Context-Aware Vision Language Foundation Models for Ocular Disease Screening in Retinal Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Foundation models are large-scale versatile systems trained on vast quantities of diverse data to learn generalizable representations. Their adaptability with minimal fine-tuning makes them particularly promising for medical imaging, where data variability and domain shifts are major challenges.

Topology and Intersection-Union Constrained Loss Function for Multi-Region Anatomical Segmentation in Ocular Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Ocular Myasthenia Gravis (OMG) is a rare and challenging disease to detect in its early stages, but symptoms often first appear in the eye muscles, such as drooping eyelids and double vision. Ocular images can be used for early diagnosis by segmenting different regions, such as the sclera, iris, and pupil, which allows for the calculation of area ...

How to Achieve High Spatial Resolution in Organic Optobioelectronic Devices?

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study explores how the optoelectronic properties of organic semiconductors impact on the resolution of light‐activated bioelectronic interfaces. Using photovoltage and photocurrent microscopy techniques, the authors show that H2PC/PTCDI heterojunctions enable a resolution down to 6.5 µm due to low carrier mobility along the heterojunction.

Pump‐Probe Imaging of Ultrafast Laser Percussion Drilling of Glass in Single Pulse, MHz‐ and GHz‐Burst Regimes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Pump‐probe shadowgraphy of glass drilling is shown with a femtosecond laser operating in MHz‐ and GHz‐burst regime. A comparison with standard femtosecond micro‐processing using repetitive single pulses is provided. The ablation plume lifetime is measured in all three regimes, and the drilling dynamics of Through Glass Via (TGV) in GHz‐burst mode are ...

Wide‐Field Bond Quality Evaluation Using Frequency Domain Thermoreflectance with Deep Neural Network Feature Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
In this work, wide‐field (>1 mm2) frequency‐domain thermoreflectance (FDTR) hyperspectral imaging is used to image subsurface indium bump bonds 50 µm below the surface. Thermal analysis with Monte Carlo uncertainty propagation is used to evaluate bump quality, while a trained deep neural network (can rapidly reconstruct bump geometry contact area maps.

Magnetoelastic Sensing: A Study of Flexible Magnetoelastic Strain Sensors for Highly Deformed Posture Perception

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study proposes a magnetoelastic strain sensor for highly deformed posture perception. The sensor can maintain stable sensing signal output under significant strain (200%) and at varying stretch rates (ranging from 1000 to 8000 mm min−1). The sensor design is simple and can be applied to soft robots and wearable devices.

Integrated Ovonic Threshold Switching Selector and Resistive Switching Memory 1S1R in Electrodeposited ZnTe Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study showcases the first‐ever demonstration of ovonic threshold switching (OTS) and resistive switching (RS) in ZnTe thin films fabricated via a fast, cost‐effective electrodeposition method. By controlling the deposition potential, ZnTe film is tuned to demonstrate OTS or RS behaviors, enabling the implementation of one‐selector‐one‐resistor ...
