Deltas: New paradigms

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 10, Issue 5, Page 600-636, November 2024.
This paper discusses some new paradigms concerning the origin and significance of deltas and their deposits. It proposes a broader definition of deltas that takes into account the importance of sediment‐laden fluvial discharges in controlling deltaic sedimentation.

Sediment particle tracking data for the Carpathian reservoir under climate and land use change scenarios

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 11, Issue 4, Page 699-717, October 2024.
Tracking sediment transport from the riverine source into the reservoir is challenging due to the different character of both hydrological systems. The solution to solve this problem has been offered through integration of two modeling tools on the digital platform Macromodel DNS as presented in the figure. The result of this integration was a database

Effects of Tidal Range and Significant Wave Height on Delta Development

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, Volume 129, Issue 9, September 2024.
Abstract Only around 40% of rivers globally have deltas, but the conditions which inhibit or facilitate river delta formation are not well understood. Many studies have investigated the response of delta development to marine and river conditions. However, few have investigated the limits of such processes beyond which delta formation may be prevented,

Who in the world are the Heruli?1

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, Volume 32, Issue 3, Page 284-305, August 2024.
The history of the Heruli represents a historical conundrum. Because of the poor state of the sources, caution is required when analysing this subject. However, the peculiarity of the case encourages us to rethink the way we conceive of and describe migrations in Late Antiquity.
