Cryptomonadales have acquired their plastids by secondary endosymbiosis. A novel clade—CRY1—has been discovered at the base of the Cryptomonadales tree, but it remains unknown whether it contains plastids. Cryptomonadales are also an important component of phytoplankton assemblages.

Sediment budget of the Vistula Lagoon: The equilibrium or evolution?
2004 USA-Baltic Internation Symposium, 2004The suspended sediment budget for the Vistula Lagoon and general tendency in evolution of the bottom topography were analyzed as related to artificial changes of the hydrological regime of the lagoon in the beginning of 19th century. The quantitative estimation of components of the sediment budget evidences the existence of “deficit” of sediment gain ...

Mixing zones within the complex transitional waters of the Baltic Sea Vistula Lagoon
, 2020The untidal estuarine systems are also referred to as transitional waters and the Baltic Sea in one of the biggest. The study of smaller estuaries in order to know patterns of river input in the Baltic Sea reveals a complicated system. Two similar mixing

The Gulf of Gdańsk and Vistula Lagoon
2017The Gulf of Gdansk is the south-eastern part of the Baltic Proper and makes up 1.3% of its area. The conventional boundary between the gulf and the Baltic Proper is an imaginary 58 nautical mile line between Cape Rozewie (54°50′N, 18°20′E) and Cape Taran (54°58′N, 19°69′E).

Analysis of fish parasitofauna in Vistula Lagoon (the Baltic Sea)
Inland Water Biology, 2009The characteristics of parasitofauna (81 species) of 15 fish species from Vistula Lagoon (the Baltic Sea) are given. Parasites with a direct developmental cycle dominate. Parasites with a complicated developmental cycle are represented mainly by species developed through zoobenthos.

Water circulation modeling in marine area near the Vistula Lagoon outlet
2006 IEEE US/EU Baltic International Symposium, 2006The Baltic Sea is characterized by active water dynamics and circulation of different spatial scales, which reveal in conditions of complex bottom relief and strongly non-uniform hydrological structure. Nowadays a POM (Prinston Ocean Model) is the most popular modeling tool used as a basis for scientific and applied numerical models for the Baltic Sea.
