APPLICATION OF VISUAL-ANALOGUE SCALES TO THE MEASUREMENT OF FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY

open access: yesRheumatology, 1976
Visual-analogue scales can be used to measure the subjective aspect of functional ability but, in a group of patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis, the severity of impairment of two predetermined functional tests was low in comparison with the severity of pain.

Variation And Validity Of Body Dissatisfaction Visual Analogue Scales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
When measuring state body dissatisfaction, it is common for researchers to use idiosyncratic versions of the Body Dissatisfaction – Visual Analogue Scales (BD-VASs). However, the BDVAS variants vary in their scale and psychometric properties and impede comparability of results across studies. This thesis aims to review all available BD-VAS variants and

Scalable Fabrication of Height‐Variable Microstructures with a Revised Wetting Model

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Height‐variable microstructures are fabricated using a scalable CO2 laser machining approach, enabling precise control of wettability through structural gradients. Classical wetting models fail to capture height‐induced effects, necessitating a revised theoretical framework.

The Nonlinear Visco‐Hyperelastic Damage Mechanics of Individual Electrospun Polycaprolactone Fibers: Experiments and Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the complex mechanics of individual electrospun polycaprolactone fibers under small and large strains. Combining experiments with a visco‐hyperelastic damage model, this work reveals and quantifies these fibers’ nonlinear behavior, including strain‐stiffening, viscoelasticity, and damage.

Influence of a Standard Heat Treatment on the Microstructure and Properties of Inconel X‐750 Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ni‐base superalloys produced using additive manufacturing (AM) have a different response to heat treatments when compared to their conventional counterparts. Due to such unpredictability, various alloys with industrial interest are currently overlooked in most prior AM research.

Response Style Characterization for Repeated Measures Using the Visual Analogue Scale

open access: yesIEEE Access
Self-report measures (e.g., Likert scales) are widely used to evaluate subjective health perceptions. Recently, the visual analog scale (VAS), a slider-based scale, has become popular owing to its ability to precisely and easily assess how people feel ...
