Automated Visual Attention Manipulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper a system for visual attention manipulation is introduced and formally described. This system is part of the design of a software agent that supports naval crew in her task to compile a tactical picture of the situation in the field. A case study is described in which the system is used to manipulate a human subject's attention.

DELP Treatment on Vision and Retinal Microcirculation in Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke: Report of Five Cases and Literature Review

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The delipid extracorporeal lipoprotein filter from plasma (DELP) treatment can effectively reduce blood lipid, increase blood flow, and improve neurological deficits in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). However, its effect on vision and retinal microcirculation in stroke patients has never been reported.

Attenuation of spatial bias with target template variation

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study investigated the impact of target template variation or consistency on attentional bias in location probability learning. Participants conducted a visual search task to find a heterogeneous shape among a homogeneous set of distractors.

Investigation of the effects of auditory and visual stimuli on attention

open access: yesHeliyon, 2021
Attentional resources limit our perceptual capacities. One vital point is whether these resources are allotted severally to every sense or shared between them.

Motion adaptation and attention: A critical review and meta-analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The motion aftereffect (MAE) provides a behavioural probe into the mechanisms underlying motion perception, and has been used to study the effects of attention on motion processing.

Visual Attention: Size Matters [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2017
When searching real-world scenes, human attention is guided by knowledge of the plausible size of target object (if an object is six feet tall, it isn't your cat). Computer algorithms typically do not do this, but perhaps they should.

Visual Selective Attention in Mice [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2018
Visual selective attention is a fundamental cognitive ability that allows us to process relevant visual stimuli while ignoring irrelevant distracters and has been extensively studied in human and non-human primate subjects. Mice have emerged as a powerful animal model for studying aspects of the visual system but have not yet been shown to exhibit ...

A Comparative Study of Cerebral Oxygenation During Exercise in Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment and exercise intolerance are common in dialysis patients. Cerebral perfusion and oxygenation play a major role in both cognitive function and exercise execution; HD session per se aggravates cerebral ischemia in this population. This study aimed to compare cerebral oxygenation and perfusion at rest and in mild

Event-Driven Visual Attention for the Humanoid Robot iCub]{Event-Driven Visual Attention for the Humanoid Robot iCub

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2013
Fast reaction to sudden and potentially interesting stimuli is a crucial feature for safe and reliable interaction with the environment. Here we present a biologically inspired attention system developed for the humanoid robot iCub. It is based on input

Dyslexia and the assessment of visual attention [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Visual stream segregation has been proposed as a method to measure visual attention in dyslexia. Another task proposed to do this is the line-motion illusion. Both tasks, it is observed, can be carried out with spatially distributed stimuli.
