Interferometric Evidence for Resolved Warm Dust in the DQ Tau System [PDF]
We report on near-infrared (IR) interferometric observations of the double-lined pre-main sequence (PMS) binary system DQ Tau. We model these data with a visual orbit for DQ Tau supported by the spectroscopic orbit & analysis of \citet{Mathieu1997 ...

Orbits of Binary Stars: from Visual Measures to Speckle Interferometry
Knowledge of the orbits of visual binary stars has always been one of the fundamentals of astronomy. Based historically on the visual measures, nowadays the orbits rely more (or exclusively) on the accurate speckle data.

Preliminary orbital elements of six visual binary stars
Preliminary new orbital elements were computed for the visual binary stars A 1 - ADS 1345, A 2629 - ADS 3610, BU 560 - ADS 4371, STF 3115 - ADS 4376, STF 1426 AB - ADS 7730 and STF 2437 - ADS 11956.

Incorporating nanosized silver into titanium for antimicrobial materials exploits the metastable miscibility gap between silver and titanium. Silver nanoparticles are synthesized via pulsed laser ablation in liquid. Silver addition refines the microstructure, increases hardness by 30%, and reduces Staphylococcus capitis microbial adhesion by 70%, with ...

Visual Binaries in the Orion Nebula Cluster [PDF]
We have carried out a major survey for visual binaries towards the Orion Nebula Cluster using HST images obtained with an H-alpha filter. Among 781 likely ONC members more than 60" from theta-1 Ori C, we find 78 multiple systems (75 binaries and 3 triples), of which 55 are new discoveries, in the range from 0.1" to 1.5".

Developing process parameters for the laser‐based Powder Bed Fusion of metals can be a tedious task. Based on melt pool depth, the process parameters are transferable to different laser scan speeds. For this, understanding the melt pool scaling behavior is essential, particularly for materials with high thermal diffusivity, as a change in scaling ...

SUBIC: A supervised, structured binary code for image search [PDF]
For large-scale visual search, highly compressed yet meaningful representations of images are essential. Structured vector quantizers based on product quantization and its variants are usually employed to achieve such compression while minimizing the ...

Five New Sirius-like White Dwarf–Main-sequence Star Systems with MagAO-X
Most known white dwarfs in multiple systems with main-sequence stars have been discovered with M-type companions, because the white dwarf causes detectable UV excess and bluer colors than expected from a single M star.
