Bayesian optimization of visual comfort

open access: yes, 2007
We propose a self-commissioning, user-adaptive blinds and electric lighting controller for small office rooms. Self-commissioning, in this context, means that the controller builds an internal representation of the room, in particular of the room's daylighting characteristics, automatically and without user input.

Multidimensional Cellular Micro‐Compartments to Model Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Dormancy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is an understudied subtype of breast cancer that is susceptible to late recurrences. In this study, micro‐compartmentalization techniques spanning multiple dimensions, including 2D, pseudo‐3D, and 3D, are integrated to uncover the mechanisms underlying ILC dormancy, revealing the central role of p27Kip1.

An Experimental Study on the Effects of Natural Visual and Auditory Stimuli on Human Physiological and Psychological Responses Under Different Temperature Conditions

open access: yesBuildings
Although many studies have demonstrated the positive effects of natural visual and auditory stimuli on human physiological and psychological states, there is limited empirical evidence on the effects on subjective comfort under different thermal ...

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

Sodium Alginate‐Based Submucosal Lifting Hydrogel for Endoscopic Mucosal Resection and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A biocompatible sodium alginate‐based hydrogel is developed as a next‐generation submucosal lifting agent intended for EMR and ESD. The optimized formulation exhibits a composition devoid of endotoxins, high viscosity, demonstrates reliable injectability, and ensures prolonged mucosal elevation.

Multifunctional Catechol‐Functionalized Cellulose Hydrogels for the Minimally Invasive Treatment of Acute Optic Nerve Injuries

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Catechol‐functionalized cellulose hydrogels are developed as injectable, bioadhesive platforms for retinal neuroprotection. The hydrogels exhibit tunable rheological and mechanical properties, strong tissue adhesion, and sustained antioxidative activity.
