Comparing visual component composition environments

12th International Conference of the Chilean Computer Science Society, 2002. Proceedings., 2003
Current visual programming environments offer a variety of composition possibilities. Most of these environments provide drag and drop facilities of components on a form and let the interaction between components be defined by selecting suitable components and checking the incompatibilities of the resulting composition.

Deconstructing GAs into Visual Software Components

Proceedings of the Companion Publication of the 2015 Annual Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computation, 2015
We envisage Genetic Algorithms (GA) as search-based optimisation techniques encompassing independent bio-inspired operators and representations that are realizable as self-contained deployable computational units. In other words, we think of GAs as a set of software components conforming to a formally-defined evolution-oriented composition model ...

Metacognitive Components of Visual Search in Children

The Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1985
Two studies examined children's increasing ability to analyze tasks in terms of the perceptual features that affect task difficulty. Of particular interest was any understanding that perceptual confusions occur during the search for an object surrounded by objects similar in shape or color to that object. In Study 1, 32 pre-schoolers constructed arrays

Visualization of network components for attack analysis

2009 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence in Cyber Security, 2009
The expansion of computer networks has lead to the increase of online network attacks. Therefore, an efficient method to detect and analyze network attacks is inevitable. As a result much research has been done on network visualization. This paper proposes a method which efficiently visualizes and analyzes network attacks using parallel coordinates.

Attention to visual and kinesthetic components of skills

Brain Research, 1974
Abstract The performance of skilled movements gives rise to several sources of feedback. It is important to determine whether and at what level these cues are used. This article considers their use at the highest level of conscious control. Several experimental techniques are outlined to investigate the role of attention in the processing of visual ...

Visual Components for Pervasive Computing Management

IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Services, 2007
This paper presents a component framework for building and operating visual interfaces for context-aware services in smart spaces. By using a compound-document technology, it provides physical entities, places, and services in smart spaces with visual components to annotate and control them. It can automatically assemble visual components into a visual
