Proper functioning of the visual system depends on maturation of both excitatory and inhibitory synapses within the visual cortex. Considering that perisomatic inhibition is one of the key factors that control the critical period in visual cortex, it is ...

Magnetically Guided Mechanoactive Mineralization Scaffolds for Enhanced Bone Regeneration
A 3D‐printed ‘rebar‐concrete’ inspired scaffold (PGS‐P@MGel) synergizes spontaneous biomineralization with magneto‐mechanical stimulation through PDA@Fe3O4‐embedded hydrogel. This dual biointerface activates Piezo1/β‐catenin/YAP mechanotransduction axis, enhancing BMSCs osteogenesis and angiogenesis simultaneously.

Functional Correspondences in the Human and Marmoset Visual Cortex During Movie Watching: Insights from Correlation, Redundancy, and Synergy [PDF]
The world of beauty is deeply connected to the visual cortex, as perception often begins with vision in both humans and marmosets. Quantifying functional correspondences in the visual cortex across species can help us understand how information is processed in the primate visual cortex, while also providing deeper insights into human visual cortex ...

Organ‐on‐Chip (OoC) technology enables the precise modeling of the blood‐brain barrier (BBB). This study presents a microfluidic device that mimics brain microvessels, integrating co‐culture with pericytes and astrocytes under pulsatile flow. Results show that perivascular cells modulate endothelial morphology, promoting lumen formation and barrier ...

Latency and Selectivity of Single Neurons Indicate Hierarchical Processing in the Human Medial Temporal Lobe [PDF]
Neurons in the temporal lobe of both monkeys and humans show selective responses to classes of visual stimuli and even to specific individuals. In this study, we investigate the latency and selectivity of visually responsive neurons recorded from ...

NeoCast is a next‐generation, solvent‐free, non‐adhesive liquid embolic designed for indications where deep occlusion is desired (e.g., tumors and chronic subdural hematoma). This novel agent offers ideal embolic properties: injectability, controllability, excellent visibility, and biocompatibility.

Rethinking category-selectivity in human visual cortex [PDF]
A wealth of studies report evidence that occipitotemporal cortex tessellates into "category-selective" brain regions that are apparently specialized for representing ecologically important visual stimuli like faces, bodies, scenes, and tools. Here, we argue that while valuable insights have been gained through the lens of category-selectivity, a more ...

The use of organ‐on‐a‐chip (OOC) microfluidic platforms is expanding in biomedical research. While this emerging technology is becoming increasingly accessible, the stability of long‐term functional cultures remains a critical challenge to address. This study presents a straightforward, one‐step method for the functionalization of polydimethylsiloxane ...

Mandibular Implants: A Metamaterial‐Based Approach to Reducing Stress Shielding
Metamaterial mandibular implants offer a novel approach to reducing stress shielding and enhancing biomechanical stimulation. This study compares a gyroid‐based metamaterial plate to a solid titanium plate using photoelasticity and finite element analysis.
