FastNano Liquid: An Automated Platform for Small‐Angle X‐ray Scattering‐Based Materials Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present FastNano Liquid, an automated small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering platform for the combined synthesis and characterization of (nano)materials. The platform is coupled to varied reactor workflows for both in situ studies of reaction kinetics and ex situ screening of synthesis conditions to support machine learning‐guided exploration ...

Enhancement of the Through‐Thickness Electrical Conductivity of Carbon‐Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Using Large Graphite Particles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
To enhance through‐thickness conductivity without sacrificing impregnation, large spherical graphite particles are intentionally employed in a low‐viscosity resin. Unlike finer conductive fillers, these particles remain outside the fiber bundles and accumulate in resin‐rich interlaminar regions during molding.

Improved Baselines with Visual Instruction Tuning

Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2023
Large multimodal models (LMM) have recently shown encouraging progress with visual instruction tuning. In this paper, we present the first systematic study to investigate the design choices of LMMs in a controlled setting under the LLaVA framework.

In-situ visual exploration over big raw data

Information Systems, 2021
Data exploration and visual analytics systems are of great importance in Open Science scenarios, where less tech-savvy researchers wish to access and visually explore big raw data files (e.g., json, csv) generated by scientific experiments using ...

Differential effects of aging and cognitive decline on visual exploration behavior in the elderly.

Neurosciences research, 2021
Visual exploration disturbance has been examined in the elderly, mainly from the perspective of associations with cognitive function. However, it remains unknown whether this is a consequence of cognitive decline, age-related changes independent of ...
