Models of glaucomatous visual field loss.
PURPOSE To evaluate and compare the ability of pointwise linear, exponential, and logistic functions, and combinations of functions, to model the longitudinal behavior of visual field (VF) series and predict future VF loss in patients with glaucoma ...

Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

In this article we revisit the concept of abstraction as it is used in visualization and put it on a solid formal footing. While the term \emph{abstraction} is utilized in many scientific disciplines, arts, as well as everyday life, visualization inherits the notion of data abstraction or class abstraction from computer science, topological abstraction

How do field of view and resolution affect the information content of panoramic scenes for visual navigation? A computational investigation [PDF]
The visual systems of animals have to provide information to guide behaviour and the informational requirements of an animal’s behavioural repertoire are often reflected in its sensory system.

Benefit of large field-of-view cameras for visual odometry
The transition of visual-odometry technology from research demonstrators to commercial applications naturally raises the question: “what is the optimal camera for vision-based motion estimation?” This question is crucial as the choice of camera has a ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Rescula as an Alternative Therapy for Beta-Blockers with Long-Term Drift Effect in Glaucoma Patients
The purpose of this study was to evaluate both the intraocular pressure (IOP)-decreasing and neuroprotective effects of Rescula (0.12% unoprostone isopropyl) as an alternative therapy to beta- blockers with a long-term drift effect in patients with ...

Bringing Visual Inference to the Classroom [PDF]
In the classroom, we traditionally visualize inferential concepts using static graphics or interactive apps. For example, there is a long history of using apps to visualize sampling distributions. Recent developments in statistical graphics have created an opportunity to bring additional visualizations into the classroom to hone student understanding ...
