A formula for human retinal ganglion cell receptive field density as a function of visual field location.

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2014
In the human eye, all visual information must traverse the retinal ganglion cells. The most numerous subclass, the midget retinal ganglion cells, are believed to underlie spatial pattern vision.

Multi-field visualization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Modern science utilizes advanced measurement and simulation techniques to analyze phenomena from fields such as medicine, physics, or mechanics. The data produced by application of these techniques takes the form of multi-dimensional functions or fields, which have to be processed in order to provide meaningful parts of the data to domain experts ...

Rates of glaucomatous visual field change in a large clinical population.

open access: yesInvestigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, 2014
PURPOSE To determine the rate of glaucomatous visual field change in routine clinical care. METHODS Mean deviation (MD) rate was computed in one randomly selected eye of all glaucoma patients and suspects with ≥5 examinations in a tertiary eye-care ...

Deeper and Wider Siamese Networks for Real-Time Visual Tracking [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2019
Siamese networks have drawn great attention in visual tracking because of their balanced accuracy and speed. However, the backbone networks used in Siamese trackers are relatively shallow, such as AlexNet, which does not fully take advantage of the ...

An algorithm for visual fields

open access: yesSurvey of Ophthalmology, 1980
The authors present an algorithm, or sequential strategy, for the performance and interpretation of visual fields. Based on the principle that particular areas of the visual field are relatively vulnerable and that particular defect configurations are relatively more diagnostic, the strategy proposes certain "core maneuvers" for all initial ...

A Design Space of Vision Science Methods for Visualization Research [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A growing number of efforts aim to understand what people see when using a visualization. These efforts provide scientific grounding to complement design intuitions, leading to more effective visualization practice. However, published visualization research currently reflects a limited set of available methods for understanding how people process ...

Driving with Binocular Visual Field Loss? A Study on a Supervised On-Road Parcours with Simultaneous Eye and Head Tracking

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Post-chiasmal visual pathway lesions and glaucomatous optic neuropathy cause binocular visual field defects (VFDs) that may critically interfere with quality of life and driving licensure.

The PTTG1/VASP axis promotes oral squamous cell carcinoma metastasis by modulating focal adhesion and actin filaments

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
VASP was found to be overexpressed in metastatic oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tissues. Notably, PTTG1‐ and VASP‐deficient OSCC cells demonstrated suppressed metastatic properties by disrupting the interaction between the cytoskeleton and focal adhesion (FAs) in the filopodia region.
