Ocular Toxoplasmosis and Visual Field Defects
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1980We studied 34 patients with peripapillary lesions secondary to toxoplasmosis. All patients had visual field defects corresponding to interruption of the nerve fiber layer of the retina. The extent of visual field loss increased with proximity to the disk.

Visual Field Defects in Epidemic Dropsy
Clinical Toxicology, 2006Epidemic dropsy is a multi-system disease involving the cardiovascular, hepatic, renal, ocular and other systems. It is a toxic disease caused by the unintentional ingestion of Argemone mexicana (prickly yellow poppy) seeds as an adulterant of wheat flour or more commonly of cooking oil such as mustard oil.To investigate the occurrence of visual field ...

Acute headache and visual field defect

The detection and analysis of visual field defects allows the practitioner to examine some functions of the central nervous system at the bedside. Cerebrovascular accidents and temporal lobe tumours can be diagnosed easily, as can pituitary lesions.

MINIMAL DEFECTS IN VISUAL FIELD STUDIES
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1949INTRACRANIAL lesions that interfere with the visual pathways will cause defects in the visual fields, the extent depending on the amount of interference. When such interference is great enough, the field defect produced is correspondingly large and is easily elicited with routine perimetric studies and even by confrontation. Since the presence of field

There are four classic types of visual field defects. Altitudinal field defects in which the defect is present above or below the horizontal midline are usually associated with ocular abnormalities. A central scotoma is characteristic of optic nerve disease of macular disease.

Neurological Visual Field Defects
Neuro-Ophthalmology, 2011Since its introduction in the 19th century perimetry has been used to help localise lesions responsible for visual field defects. In this review the visual field defects produced by lesions at different sites along the neurological visual pathway will be discussed and unusual and challenging visual field defects will be highlighted.

AN INTERPRETATION OF DEFECTS IN THE VISUAL FIELD
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1930Interest in defects of the central part of the visual field was responsible for the studies in angioscotometry made in 19261and 1927,2and an effort to explain certain phenomena associated with these vessel shadows has resulted in the accumulation of evidence which seems to have important bearing on the interpretation of diverse pictures. During recent
