Visual field examination can measure the threshold of test point and examine the range of visual field. Visual field test is particularly useful in the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma. But it is helpful in diagnosis of other eye disorders as well. The choice of visual field test method depends on the purpose of examination and type of eye diseases.

Automated Visual Field Testing
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1987I found the first half of this book to be a thorough and useful review of the mathematics and physics of automated visual field testing. The quantitation of what has been largely subjective requires some new understanding for the user. This understanding demands an appreciation of statistical issues that many of us have not used regularly.

Visual Function Tests: Visual Fields
2022Visual field tests, also known as perimetry tests, are used to assess progression of ophthalmic diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa (RP) by monitoring changes in a patient's visual field (VF). VF loss corresponds to damage at any point in the visual pathway, including the retina, such as in RP. Damage to different parts of this pathway corresponds to

Effectiveness of testing visual fields by confrontation
The Lancet, 2001Many tests are used to examine visual fields by confrontation, but such methods have not been thoroughly compared with an accepted reference standard. The choice of test might affect the identification of subtle defects in the visual field. We prospectively compared seven confrontation field tests with full-threshold automated static perimetry among ...

Visualizing the Results of Field Testing
2010 IEEE 18th International Conference on Program Comprehension, 2010Field testing of software is necessary to find potential user problems before market deployment. The large number of users involved in field testing along with the variety of problems reported by them increases the complexity of managing the field testing process.

• Glaucoma results in progressive visual field deterioration, and detecting changes or recording stability in the visual field is important in the management of glaucoma. • Visual field testing is a highly subjective and operator-dependent test. • In patients with glaucoma, the visual field is tested in monocular fashion.

SITA visual field testing in children
Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 2001The Swedish Interactive Thresholding Algorithm (SITA) is a new testing strategy for the Humphrey perimeter. The standard SITA algorithm shortens test time in adults without increasing variability, but its usefulness for detecting field defects in children has not been investigated. We evaluated 92 standard SITA 24-2 visual fields of children, most of ...

Confrontation Visual-Field Testing
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1976To the Editor.— A letter to the editor entitled, "Homonymous Hemianopsia? Does Confrontation Get You Down?" (235:908, 1976) told how one could check visual fields by holding the index finger of each hand out to each side at 180° and asking the patient which finger is wiggling.

Visual Field Testing With Red Targets
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1983Ten patients with partial temporal visual field defects were examined with a modified tangent screen projection perimeter (Auto-Plot). Defects demonstrated with an isopter for chromatic recognition of a 3-mm red stimulus could always be reproduced with an isopter for achromatic recognition of a dim, 3-mm white stimulus.
