Confrontation Visual-Field Testing

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1976
To the Editor.— A letter to the editor entitled, "Homonymous Hemianopsia? Does Confrontation Get You Down?" (235:908, 1976) told how one could check visual fields by holding the index finger of each hand out to each side at 180° and asking the patient which finger is wiggling.

A History of Perimetry and Visual Field Testing

Optometry and Vision Science, 2011
Perimetry and visual field testing have been used as clinical ophthalmic diagnostic tools for many years, and this manuscript will provide a brief historical overview of these procedures and the individuals who developed them. Today, we have many different forms of perimetry that are designed to evaluate different locations within the visual pathways ...

Visual Field Testing With Red Targets

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1983
Ten patients with partial temporal visual field defects were examined with a modified tangent screen projection perimeter (Auto-Plot). Defects demonstrated with an isopter for chromatic recognition of a 3-mm red stimulus could always be reproduced with an isopter for achromatic recognition of a dim, 3-mm white stimulus.

TESTING VISUAL FIELDS BY FLICKER FUSION

Archives of Neurology And Psychiatry, 1951
THE CRITICAL rate at which a flickering light of decreasing frequency is first perceived to flicker is the one test of visual function in which the light-adapted eye is more sensitive at the periphery of the retina than at its center. Previous investigators have agreed that flicker fusion fields are sensitive and "typical" in neurological lesions ...

Reliability of Simultaneous Visual Field Testing

Ophthalmology, 2012
To test for differences in reliability and performance between traditional, isolated perimetry and simultaneous testing with 2 patients in the same room.Comparative case series.A total of 471 eyes of 261 subjects.Consecutive patients undergoing Humphrey visual field (VF) testing in the Kellogg Eye Center glaucoma clinic were screened.

Visual Fields: Visual Field Test Strategies

2009
The question can be answered in many ways. First of all, there are visual field devices used to perform automated static perimetry and those for manual kinetic perimetry. Automatedtests utilize computer programs to vary test speed, target size, and luminance.

Automated instruments for testing the visual field [PDF]

open access: possibleBiomedical Engineering, 1987
On the surface of the hemispherical screen, which is painted with a white deadening nonflash paint, holes 1 mm in diameter are located along 24 meridians, with 16 holes per meridian, behind which are the light diodes which are the objects of presentation. Red AL307 light diodes are used as test objects.

Test Conditions in Macular Visual Field Testing in Glaucoma

Journal of Glaucoma, 2017
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the suitable visual field (VF) test conditions (target size, test type, and eccentricity) for the macular region, we investigated the correlations between the ganglion cell layer (GCL) thickness and 6 VF test results.

Visual Field Testing in the Management of Cytomegalovirus Retinitis

Ophthalmology, 1992
Sequential visual field testing is an extremely helpful adjunct to ophthalmoscopy and fundus photography in the management of cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis with the antiviral agents ganciclovir or foscarnet in patients with the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).

Confrontation visual field testing: detecting gross visual field defects

International Journal of Ophthalmic Practice, 2011
Performing confrontation visual fields is a quick and relatively easy way of detecting gross visual field defects. It requires little or no special equipment and can be performed in practically any situation, including during domiciliary visits. The practitioner should be familiar with the types of confrontation visual field tests and their uses and ...
