Studies of Visual Inspection

Ergonomics, 1973
This paper describes the results of four experiments in a series aimed at understanding and improving visual inspection in general and of small integrated circuits (i.e. 'chips') in particular. Stimuli consisted of chips that, although electrically sound, contained visual anomalies. The first experiment found that the modal duration of eye fixations of

Automated Visual Inspection: A Survey

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 1982
This paper surveys publications, reports, and articles dealing with automated visual inspection for industry. The references are organized according to their contents: overview and discussions, rationales, components and design considerations, commercially available systems, applications.

Visual Inspection

2013
Abstract Visual inspection is the most important method of inspection of materials. This chapter describes the procedures involved in visual inspection such as identification markings, identification of defects caused by heating problems, scaling of materials, cracking characterization, and measurement of material dimensions.

Visual Inspection of Multivariate Graphs

Computer Graphics Forum, 2008
AbstractMost graph visualization techniques focus on the structure of graphs and do not offer support for dealing with node attributes and edge labels. To enable users to detect relations and patterns in terms of data associated with nodes and edges, we present a technique where this data plays a more central role.

Visual Inspection of Machined Parts

Proceedings 1992 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 1996
A CAD-model-based machine vision system for dimensional inspection of machine parts is described, with emphasis on the theory behind the system. The original contributions of this work are: (1) the use of precise definitions of geometric tolerances suitable for use in image processing, (2) the development of measurement algorithms corresponding ...

Visual Inspection

1998
Abstract Visual inspection is a nondestructive testing technique that provides a means to detect and examine a variety of surface flaws, such as corrosion, contamination, surface finish, and surface discontinuities. This article discusses the equipment used to aid visual inspection, including borescopes (rigid and flexible), optical ...

Visual inspection automation

COMPSAC 79. Proceedings. Computer Software and The IEEE Computer Society's Third International Applications Conference, 1979., 2005
Manufacturing activities involve sub stantial numbers of visual tasks for pro cess control, assembly and inspection. Many of these tasks are simple and are done repetitively for prolonged periods, thus are subject to various degradations due to visual fatigue. In addition, cost of these operations has been rapidly increasing.

Visual inspection with SVM

2008 SICE Annual Conference, 2008
We applied SVM in the inspection of terminal welding of Fuel Pump. When the welding overheats, the surface becomes to be brass color, which is the melted terminal material. There is a problem of misjudging work-pieces to defective goods or not because there is a vague area ldquogray zonerdquo. Then, we applied SVM to detect the gray zone.

VISUAL INSPECTION STRATEGY

International Journal of Production Research, 1972
Abstract Considerable attention has already been devoted to the many aspects of the inspection task and findings suggest that the factors affecting the efficiency of inspection are subtle and not easily controlled. However, observation of the visual inspection techniques used in most factories suggests that this is not generally recognised and that ...
