A visual query language for software visualization
Proceedings IEEE 2002 Symposia on Human Centric Computing Languages and Environments, 2003Visualization for software understanding requires that the user be able to define specific visualizations that are specialized to the particular understanding task at hand. In this paper we describe a system that lets the user define such visualizations quickly and effectively.

On the Definition of Visual Languages and Their Editors
2002Different diagrammatic languages are concrete variants of a core metamodel which specifies the way in which to express relations, and which is the basis for a semantic interpretation. In this paper, we identify families of diagrammatic languages exploiting the notion of metamodel as introduced in UML, i.e.

Visual languages and visual thinking
Proceedings of the 6th Eurographics Symposium on Sketch-Based Interfaces and Modeling, 2009Research on sketching with computers dates to the earliest days of modern computing. Recent work in this area, combined with other advances in hardware and software technologies promises, finally, significant impact. The kinds, qualities, and purposes of sketch-based interaction, or visual languages, vary as widely as do other forms of language.
