In‐Hand Singulation, Scooping, and Cable Untangling with a 5‐Dof Tactile‐Reactive Gripper

This article presents a two‐fingered gripper with five degrees of freedom and a vision‐based tactile sensor for dexterous in‐hand manipulation. It performs complex tasks such as object singulation within granular media, scooping and precise card insertion, and cable untangling.

Zero‐Power, Optical Toxic Gas and Vapor Sensors Utilizing Printed Nematic Liquid Crystal Patterns on Selectively Reactive Substrates

Fast response, zero‐power, text or image sensors utilizing light transmission or reflection, and no unfavorable color change judgments, are fabricated using printed nematic liquid crystals patterned on reactive alignment layers, permit ppt‐ to ppb‐level sensitivity, and were field‐tested with active firefighters.

Simultaneous In‐Hand Shape and Temperature Recognition Using Flexible Multilayered Sensor Arrays for Sense‐Based Robot Manipulation

Temperature and pressure sensing are critical for human‐machine interaction applications, allowing robots to identify objects and surface characteristics for safe and precise manipulation. A multilayered robotic skin integrating pressure and temperature sensors is developed to enable simultaneous real‐time detection.
