Alexithymia and Visual Perception

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1996
60 subjects were administered the Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20, a screening test for alexithymia, and categorized by the usual scoring procedure. Each subject was then given the six Performance subtests of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised which address aspects of visual perception, organization, and construction.

By measuring the contrast threshold for gratings of different waveform and spatial frequency, Campbell & Robson suggested in 1968 that there may be ‘channels’ tuned to different spatial frequencies. By using the technique of adapting to a high contrast grating, it was possible to measure the band-pass characteristics of these channels.
