Prestimulus EEG Power Predicts Conscious Awareness But Not Objective Visual Performance [PDF]

open access: yeseNeuro, 2017
Prestimulus oscillatory neural activity has been linked to perceptual outcomes during performance of psychophysical detection and discrimination tasks. Specifically, the power and phase of low frequency oscillations have been found to predict whether an ...

Retinal location and visual processing rate [PDF]

open access: yesPerception & Psychophysics, 1981
Although previous studies have shown that the time required to process visual stimuli increases for presentations away from the fovea, the evidence concerning the exact nature of this increase is inconclusive. Three experiments were conducted using both reaction time and tachistoscopic masking tasks to generate time-accuracy functions for stimuli at ...

Rate adaptation in visual MIMO [PDF]

open access: yes2011 8th Annual IEEE Communications Society Conference on Sensor, Mesh and Ad Hoc Communications and Networks, 2011
We propose a rate adaptation scheme for visual MIMO camera-based communications, wherein parallel data transmissions from light emitting arrays are received by multiple receive elements of a CCD/CMOS camera image sensor. Unlike RF MIMO, multipath fading is negligible in the visual MIMO channel.

Efficacy of attention bias modification via smartphones in a large population sample

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2022
Negative affective biases are a key feature of anxiety and depression that uphold and promote negative mood. Bias modification aims to reduce these biases using computerized training, but shows mixed success and has not been tested at scale.

Visualizing Ratings in Recommender System Datasets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The numerical outcome of an offline experiment involving different recommender systems should be interpreted also considering the main characteristics of the available rating datasets. However, existing metrics usually exploited for comparing such datasets like sparsity and entropy are not enough informative for reliably understanding all their ...
