Simulation of Inhomogeneous Refractive Index Fields Induced by Hot Tailored Forming Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a simulation model for simulating inhomogeneous refractive index fields (IRIF) in hot‐forged components, accounting for thermal influences and complex geometries. Through this simulation, a priori knowledge about the propagation of the IRIF can be obtained, allowing for the positioning of the component or an optical measurement ...

Harmonic MUSIC Method for mmWave Radar-based Vital Sign Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
This paper investigates the application of millimeter-wave (mmWave) radar for the estimation of human vital signs. Aiming to obtain more accurate frequency estimation for periodic signals of respiration and heartbeat, we propose the harmonic MUSIC (HMUSIC) algorithm to consider harmonic components for frequency estimation of vital sign signals.

Comparative Wear and Friction Analysis of Sliding Surface Materials for Hydrostatic Bearing under Oil Supply Failure Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrostatic bearings excel in high‐precision applications, but their performance hinges on a continuous external supply. This study evaluates various material combinations for sliding surfaces to mitigate damage during supply failures or misalignment and to discover the most effective materials identified for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of

Development of a Novel Processing Route for Dispersoid/Precipitation‐Strengthened High Conductive Copper Alloys by Using Metalized Nanoceramics in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores a process chain to produce dispersoid‐strengthened CuCr1Zr for applications requiring high strength and conductivity. Using gas‐atomized powder and copper‐plated alumina nanoparticles, additive manufacturing is performed via powder bed based additive manufacturing with green and red lasers, followed by heat treatment.

Antenna Selection for Enhancing Privacy in Radar-Based Vital Sign Monitoring Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Radar-based vital sign monitoring (VSM) systems have become valuable for non-contact health monitoring by detecting physiological activities, such as respiration and heartbeat, remotely. However, the conventional phased array used in VSM is vulnerable to privacy breaches, as an eavesdropper can extract sensitive vital sign information by analyzing the ...
