Abstract Efforts to use transcriptomics for toxicity testing have classically relied on the assumption that chemicals consistently produce characteristic transcriptomic signatures that are reflective of their mechanism of action. However, the degree to which transcriptomic responses are conserved across different test methodologies has seldom been ...

This study shows the protective effects of potential probiotic strain of Pediococci strains against diarrheal Escherichia coli strains in Caenorhabditis elegans model system. The E. coli strains resulted in severe morphological and physiological damage to the worm whereas the probiotic interventions were able to reduce these damages.

Molecular Characterization, Developmental Expression and Immunolocalization of Clathrin Heavy Chain in the Ovary of the American Cockroach, Periplaneta Americana During Oogenesis [PDF]
Clathrin is the principal protein involved in receptor mediate endocytosis and the main component of the coated vesicles. It is composed of three identical clathrin heavy chains (CHC), each with an attached light chain. We characterized the deduced amino

The hookworm Ancylostoma ceylanicum intestinal transcriptome provides a platform for selecting drug and vaccine candidates [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The intestine of hookworms contains enzymes and proteins involved in the blood-feeding process of the parasite and is therefore a promising source of possible vaccine antigens.

Egg yolk hydrolysate shows moderate impact on osteoporosis in ovariectomized rats
Abstract BACKGROUND This study investigated the protective effect of egg yolk hydrolysate (FC) on osteoporosis in ovariectomized (OVX) rats, a well‐established model of postmenopausal bone loss. OVX rats were fed diets supplemented with 0.2% or 1% FC for 13 weeks.

A novel tilapia prolactin receptor is functionally distinct from its paralog [PDF]
A novel tilapia prolactin (PRL) receptor (OmPRLR2) was identified based on its induction during hyperosmotic stress. OmPRLR2 protein shows 28% identity to tilapia OmPRLR1 and 26% identity to human PRLR.
