Silicon‐Integrated Perovskite Photonic Laser Based on Bound States in Continuum
A strategy to integrate perovskite coherent light sources onto commercial silicon platform is proposed. Based on the bound states in the continuum, the energy leakage from perovskite microdisk to silicon is totally removed, leading to the observation of perovskite lasers on silicon with a laser quality factor ∼4850.

Early Evidence of “Finance for Normal People” in the First Era of Globalization
ABSTRACT In this paper, we unearth a forgotten study of Pierre Des Essars, the director of research at the Banque de France in the late 19th century, enriched with comments from contemporary financial analysts. Des Essars provides the first and only existing example of the actual composition of French individual portfolios during the Belle Époque.

The ear against the eye : Vertov’s symphony [PDF]
Vertov defined the basic qualities of his Cine-Eye by means of a simple negation: it sees what remains inaccessible to the human eye. This means that in his films we see media-based and media-produced images that have nothing to do with the imitation of ...

Variation of tow force with velocity during offshore ploughing in granular materials [PDF]
Pipeline plough behaviour has been investigated by means of reduced scale physical model testing. A testing programme was devised to investigate the influence of permeability, relative density, and plough depth on the associated tow force measured ...

Abstract Several species of Lepidoptera with caterpillars bearing urticating hairs are increasing their range in metropolitan France from year to year, such as the pine processionary (Thaumetopoea pityocampa Denis et Schiffermüller 1775) whose presence was historically limited to the south of France, and which is gradually being observed in the north ...

Enhanced Optical Gain Through Efficient Polaron Pairs Recombination in F8xBTy
To effectively design efficient optical gain media via Forster resonant energy transfer (FRET) is challenging. There is strong te competition between polaron pairs and stimulated emission. This is solved by designing copolymers with both charge transfer (CT) and FRET, resulting in significantly enhanced light amplification and optical gain. The results
