A novel virus, with characteristics of viruses classified within the genus Vitivirus, was identified from a sample of Vitis vinifera cv. Chardonnay in New Zealand. The virus was detected with high throughput sequencing (small RNA and total RNA) and its sequence was confirmed by Sanger sequencing.

A novel vitivirus-like sequence found in Arracacia xanthorrhiza plants by high throughput sequencing
High throughput sequencing (HTS) is a very powerful tool for detecting and discovering novel viral-like sequences without prior knowledge of the sequence. Here we describe the complete genome of a new vitivirus-like sequence that was found in arracacha (Arracacia xanthorrhiza) plants using HTS technology.

Virus infectivity experiments were performed with three soft scale species, Parthenolecanium corni, Pa. persicae and Pulvinaria vitis, and one mealybug species, Heliococcus bohemicus, frequent in the north-eastern French vineyard. Insects were sampled on grapevines infected by leafroll viruses (GLRaV-1, -2, -3), either alone, or in combinations ...

Η άμπελος αποτελεί μία από τις σημαντικότερες καλλιέργειες στην Ελλάδα και προσβάλλεται από έναν μεγάλο αριθμό ιών, συμπεριλαμβανομένων ιών του γένους Vitivirus. Οι ιοί A (grapevine virus A, GVA), B (grapevine virus B, GVB) και F (grapevine virus F, GVF) της αμπέλου, που ανήκουν στο γένος αυτό, παρουσιάζουν παγκόσμια εξάπλωση, με τους GVA και GVB να ...
