Archives of Ophthalmology, 1978A case is describes in which the earliest clinical manifestations of sympathetic uveitis that occurred after trauma and pars plana vitrectomy were confined primarily to the retina, retinal pigment epithelium, and choroid posteriorly, and resembled focal lesions of acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy.

Uveitis: Effect of Vitrectomy Combined with Lensectomy
Ophthalmology, 1979Combined lensectomy-vitrectomy was performed on 25 eyes in 20 patients with cataracta complicata associated with uveitis from various etiologies. Postoperative follow-up averaged 15 months, with visual improvement in 24 of the 25 eyes. Primary cause of postoperative decreased vision was cystoid macular edema.

Retina, 1983Abstract: Cataract extraction in patients with chronic uveitis may be hazardous. Recent studies have indicated an improvement in prognosis using lensectomy-vitrectomy techniques in selected cases of uveitic cataracts. The results of lensectomy-vitrectomy in 12 cases of uveitic cataract are reported. All patients had improvement in vision.
