This is a transparent jelly occupying, in man and most vertebrates, by far the largest part of the globe. As Fig. 1.1 shows, it is bounded by the retina, ciliary body and the posterior capsule of the lens. If the sclera is cut through round the equator, the posterior half with the attached retina comes away from the vitreous body, leaving this ...

ASTEROID BODIES IN THE VITREOUS
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1933Asteroid bodies in the vitreous, snowball opacities, asteroid hyalitis or Benson's disease is a condition in which small, solid, stellate, spherical or disk-shaped bodies are suspended in a substantially normal vitreous. The opacities occur in strands or as discrete bodies without orderly arrangement. They are creamy, flat-white or shiny in appearance

Evaluation of Vitreous Body Integrity in Retinitis Pigmentosa by Vitreous Fluorophotometry
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1987We performed vitreous fluorophotometry on 23 eyes of 15 normal individuals and on 29 eyes of 15 patients with retinitis pigmentosa one hour after the systemic administration of sodium fluorescein. The concentration gradient of fluorescein in the posterior vitreous was evaluated from the results of the testing.

Rheology of the vitreous body. Part I: Viscoelasticity of human vitreous
Biorheology, 1992The rheological properties of the vitreous body of the eye are believed to be a function of composition and to differ among species, as well as to vary regionally within the vitreous. These properties are essential to the mechanical functioning of the eye.

FIBROUS COMPONENTS OF THE VITREOUS BODY
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1952THE STRUCTURE of the vitreous body is an old problem which has stimulated the attention of anatomists and ophthalmologists from the earliest time. In spite of the large amount of research work done on the subject, our knowledge of the vitreous structure is still limited.

Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a short-term (41 days) potential vitreous substitute and is too short for an ideal vitreous substitute. Previously, a foldable capsular vitreous body (FCVB) was designed to mimic vitreous function. The aim of this study is to

PURPOSE We investigated whether the foldable capsular vitreous body (FCVB) could release levofloxacin sustainably in vitro and inhibit endophthalmitis in rabbit models. METHODS Approximately 1.0 mL levofloxacin (625 μg/mL) was injected into the capsule

Immunosuppressive factors in porcine vitreous body
Current Eye Research, 1991High molecular (designated Sv, greater than 3K) and low molecular (designated Sv, less than 3K) fractions were prepared by filtration of porcine vitreous extracts through a membrane filter with a molecular weight cut-off of 3,000 daltons. Both fractions inhibited mitogen-stimulated proliferation of lymphocytes from rat spleen, as determined by [3H ...
