OsPIP2;1 impacts root hydraulic conductance and is a candidate gene for a drought avoidance QTL on rice chromosome 7

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 5, Page 1602-1613, August 2026.
In this study, we identified a rice plasma membrane intrinsic aquaporin (OsPIP2;1) as the candidate gene for a chromosome 7 locus driving drought avoidance, supported by established and novel physiological experiments measuring root hydraulic conductance in near isogenic and RNAi knockdown lines.

Performance, Emission, and Optimization Analysis of a Diesel Engine Fueled With Waste‐Derived Tallow Biodiesel

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 7, July 2026.
The growing demand for sustainable, low‐emission fuels has increased interest in waste‐derived biodiesel for compression ignition engines. This study experimentally evaluates mutton tallow biodiesel blends and applies a multi‐response optimization approach using the Taguchi method integrated with Gray relational analysis.

‘…It Makes It Possible for Me to Have a Life…’: Microtransformative Helpline Communication with Frequent Users

open access: yesJournal of Community Psychology, Volume 54, Issue 5, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Frequent use of anonymous helplines is often framed as problematic from a service perspective. This study aims to explore how frequent users themselves perceive the helpfulness of repeated helpline contact and to examine tensions between user and staff understandings of effective helpline communication.

Biallelic Loss‐Of‐Function Variant in ATP5ME Is Associated With Severe and Early Onset Oxidative Phosphorylation Deficiency

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT ATP synthase (complex V) catalyzes ATP synthesis and is composed of the F1 catalytic sector and the F0 proton‐conducting sector. The e subunit of the F0 sector, encoded by ATP5ME, is essential for complex V dimerization and cristae organization; however, genetic variants in ATP5ME have not yet been implicated in human disease. We ascertained a

Preparation of InSe Thin Films by Thermal Evaporation Method and Their Characterization: Structural, Optical, and Thermoelectrical Properties

open access: yesJournal of Nanotechnology, 2018
The indium selenium (InSe) bilayer thin films of various thickness ratios, InxSe(1-x) (x = 0.25, 0.50, 0.75), were deposited on a glass substrate keeping overall the same thickness of 2500 Ǻ using thermal evaporation method under high vacuum atmosphere ...

Novel Amylin‐Based Therapies for Weight Management in Adults With Overweight or Obesity Without Diabetes: A Network Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
This network meta‐analysis of 6 RCTs (4642 participants) found that novel amylin‐based therapies (particularly high‐dose subcutaneous amycretin and eloralintide) produced substantial weight loss in adults with overweight or obesity without diabetes, outperforming placebo.
