Visible Light Communication (VLC) for 6G Technology: The Potency and Research Challenges

2020 Fourth World Conference on Smart Trends in Systems, Security and Sustainability (WorldS4), 2020
This paper aims to envision the potential use of visible light communications (VLC) for a 6G technological platform. We have identified the technical aspect of VLC as well as its research and regulatory challenges.

Performance Analysis of a Mixed Cooperative PLC–VLC System for Indoor Communication Systems

IEEE Systems Journal, 2020
In this paper we propose a dual-hop mixed cooperative power line communication (PLC)–visible light communication (VLC) system, in which the VLC system is linked to the PLC backhaul link with the assistance of a decode and forward relay.

Retro-VLC

Proceedings of the 16th International Workshop on Mobile Computing Systems and Applications, 2015
The ubiquity of the lighting infrastructure makes the visible light communication (VLC) well suited for mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) applications in the indoor environment. However, existing VLC systems have primarily been focused on one-way communications from the illumination infrastructure to the mobile device.

Catadioptric interfaces for designing VLC antennae

Applied Optics, 2017
This paper presents a model to design bi-aspherical catadioptric lenses with limited image diffraction. A first refractive Cartesian oval surface that does not introduce any spherical aberration is used. When total internal reflection occurs, this surface can also be simultaneously used as a mirror. The reflective characteristics of Cartesian ovals are

The future of VLC

Proceedings of the 1st ACM MobiCom workshop on Visible light communication systems, 2014
Visible light communication (VLC) is based on modulating inexpensive LEDs that are simultaneously used for illumination. This dual-use approach can offer energy-efficient connectivity as well as high throughput due to the huge unregulated optical spectrum.

VLC-Based Indoor Localization

2016
The omnipresence of LEDs for illumination provides unique opportunities for indoor localization. Signals transmitted by the LEDs can be used to determine the position of a person or object within a room with high precision. The requirements of such applications are different from high speed VLC systems.
