Seizure‐related death exhibits a circadian rhythm independent of seizure timing or sleep in a mouse model of Dravet syndrome

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 603, Issue 12, Page 3571-3587, 15 June 2025.
Abstract figure legend Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) frequently occurs at night when humans are asleep. Nocturnal mouse models of seizure‐associated death also exhibit higher mortality during the night. This nighttime risk of death may be under the regulation of independent circadian and sleep state‐dependent processes.

OCC-ID: New Broadcasting Service-Based Cloud Model and Image Sensor Communications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2016
In recent decades, the main data traffic of mobile communication is based on the RF technology. Even though the efficiency from optimization for utilization or reuse is applied, there is a limitation of increased traffic demand of RF communication ...

Repeated colonisation of alpine habitats by Arabidopsis arenosa involved parallel adjustments of leaf cuticle traits

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 246, Issue 4, Page 1597-1608, May 2025.
Summary Cuticle function can be pivotal to plant success in different environments. Yet, the occurrence of intraspecific adjustments in cuticle traits resulting from acclimation or adaptation to different habitats remains poorly understood. Here, we used genetically well‐characterised populations of Arabidopsis arenosa to investigate whether cuticle ...

QCL‐Based Cryogen‐Free THz Optical Wireless Communication Link

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 19, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
A novel QCL‐based, cryogen‐free, and transportable wireless communication system is presented operating at 2.83 THz. The QCL device is mounted in a compact Stirling refrigerator, while a room‐temperature graphene‐based FET is used as a receiver, implementing a binary on‐off keying (OOK) modulation scheme with Manchester encoding.

Multiresolution Recurrent Neural Networks: An Application to Dialogue Response Generation

open access: yes, 2016
We introduce the multiresolution recurrent neural network, which extends the sequence-to-sequence framework to model natural language generation as two parallel discrete stochastic processes: a sequence of high-level coarse tokens, and a sequence of ...

A Model-Driven Deep Learning Method for LED Nonlinearity Mitigation in OFDM-Based Optical Communications

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The nonlinearity of light emitting diodes (LED) has restricted the bit error rate (BER) performance of visible light communications (VLC). In this paper, we propose model-driven deep learning (DL) approach using an autoencoder (AE) network to mitigate ...

Self‐Assembled Nanoparticles with Well‐Defined Oligosaccharide Promote Osteogenesis by Regulating Golgi Stress Response

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 3, January 27, 2025.
CS4‐NP, a self‐assembled tetrasaccharide nanoparticle, shows promise as an osteoporosis treatment by mimicking chondroitin sulfate's conformation. Its administration enhances preosteoblast activity and matrix microenvironment, highlighting glyco‐materials' therapeutic potential.

Disorders of fatty acid homeostasis

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 48, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract Humans derive fatty acids (FA) from exogenous dietary sources and/or endogenous synthesis from acetyl‐CoA, although some FA are solely derived from exogenous sources (“essential FA”). Once inside cells, FA may undergo a wide variety of different modifications, which include their activation to their corresponding CoA ester, the introduction of
