Photoemission evidence for crossover from Peierls-like to Mott-like transition in highly strained VO$_2$

open access: yes, 2012
We present a spectroscopic study that reveals that the metal-insulator transition of strained VO$_2$ thin films may be driven towards a purely electronic transition, which does not rely on the Peierls dimerization, by the application of mechanical strain.

Determinants of maximal oxygen uptake in highly trained females and males: a mechanistic study of sex differences using advanced invasive methods

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The results from this study show that maximal cardiac output, stroke volume and leg blood flow are similar between highly trained females and males after normalisation to lean body mass (LBM). However, the 10% higher haemoglobin concentration ([Hb]) and arterial O2 content in males result in higher systemic and leg O2 delivery ...

Interactive Effect of noise and heat on Maximal Aerobic Capacity (VO2 max) in Students of Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences

open access: yesبهداشت و ایمنی کار, 2019
Introduction: Determining the VO2 max of individuals is of great importance. The VO2 max refers to the maximum oxygen that can be consumed in the body in one minute and depends on factors such as physical conditions, environmental parameters, and ...

Impact of Dietary Intake and Cardiorespiratory Fitness on Glycemic Variability in Adolescents: An Observational Study

open access: yesCurrent Developments in Nutrition
Background: Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), estimated by maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max) during exercise, is worsening among adolescents and associated with a decline in metabolic health into adulthood.

Impact of time‐restricted feeding on metabolic health and adipose tissue metabolism in aged female mice with high‐fat diet‐induced obesity

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend A 10 week time‐restricted feeding (TRF) regimen was implemented in aged female mice following 12 weeks of high‐fat diet (HFD) feeding. TRF partially reversed HFD‐induced weight and fat mass gain, reduced adipocyte size and increased size heterogeneity in white adipose tissue.

Using cardiorespiratory fitness to operationalize vitality: a path analysis on the hierarchical structure of intrinsic capacity

open access: yesThe Journal of Nutrition, Health and Aging
Background: There is a lack of consensus about the operationalization of vitality, which is one of the intrinsic capacity (IC) domains. In particular, no study has investigated whether cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) can be considered a vitality ...

Return to performance criteria in soccer after musculoskeletal injury: A scoping review

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, Volume 34, Issue 2, Page 724-751, February 2026.
Abstract Return to performance (RTPe), the final stage of the return to sport (RTS) continuum remains poorly defined in current soccer‐related musculoskeletal (MSK) research, with limited identification and application of physical and/or psychological performance‐based indicators.

Method of increasing the information capacity of associative memory of oscillator neural networks using high-order synchronization effect

open access: yes, 2018
Computational modelling of two- and three-oscillator schemes with thermally coupled $VO_2$-switches is used to demonstrate a novel method of pattern storage and recognition in an impulse oscillator neural network (ONN) based on the high-order ...
