A New Tool for Discourse Analysis: The Vocabulary-Management Profile [PDF]

open access: yesLanguage, 1991
A computer is used to count the number of new vocabulary words introduced into a text over a moving interval thirty-five words long. The number of new words in each successive interval is plotted at the midpoint of the interval, generating a curve called the Vocabulary-Management Profile (VMP).

A Two‐Stage Characterization Pipeline and Open‐Source Framework for Reproducible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The same soft tactile sensor returns different numbers when embodied in different robots. This is an Embodiment Gap that no shared framework currently captures transparently. A two‐stage characterization pipeline, paired with a FAIR open‐source digital datasheet, decouples intrinsic sensor behavior from embodiment effects and condenses cross‐laboratory

Individual variation in bilingual vocabulary in preschoolers with developmental language disorder.

open access: yesResearch in Developmental Disabilities
BACKGROUND It is unclear how speech production, selective attention, and phonological working memory are related to first- (L1) and second-language (L2) vocabularies in bilingual preschoolers with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD).

A Language‐Guided Multimodal Foundation Model for Zero‐Shot and Multi‐Task Brain Signal Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
METIS aligns brain signals with natural‐language instructions to enable zero‐shot and multi‐task brain signal analysis. Pretrained on over 70 000 h of EEG and iEEG recordings, it generalizes across sleep stage classification, epilepsy detection, and neurological disorder diagnosis, providing a scalable foundation model for clinically meaningful brain ...

The Vocabulary-Management Profile: Two Stories by William Faulkner [PDF]

open access: yesEmpirical Studies of the Arts, 1994
The Vocabulary-Management Profile (VMP) is a graph of the moving average of the number of new vocabulary words introduced over successive intervals of text. Peaks and valleys on the VMP correlate closely with narrative structure: new episodes, new settings, new characters are signaled by an increase in new vocabulary, and hence by upturns on the curve.

Nanostructured Deep Eutectic Systems in Healthcare: From Bioactive Solvents to Intelligent Biointerfaces, Wearables, and AI‐Driven Design

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Beyond the green solvent paradigm, this review redefines Deep Eutectic Systems (DES) as programmable supramolecular nanoassemblies. We survey their biomedical convergence: stabilizing thermolabile mRNA to enable cold chain‐free logistics, reshaping transdermal microneedle delivery, enabling long‐term wearables via eutectogels, and utilizing Generative ...
