Rapid Microwave Plasma Engineering of HfO2/C@C Core‐Shell Fibrous Membrane Toward Flexible High‐Performance Electromagnetic Wave Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rapid microwave plasma torch engineering tunes crystal phases, carbon graphitization and oxygen‐vacancy defects in HfO2/C@C core‐shell fibrous membranes. Synergistic multi‐loss effects optimize impedance matching to deliver −65.75 dB reflection loss and a 7.37 GHz effective bandwidth for flexible electromagnetic wave absorption.

Management of Vocal Fold Leukoplakia

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery
Vocal fold leukoplakia (VFL) is a descriptive term for a white plaque in the true vocal folds (TVF). It is estimated at 10.2 cases per 100,000 males and 2.1 per 100,000 females.

3D‐Printed Gradient Shape‐Memory Strain Sensors With Rewritable Gauge Factors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed shape‐memory strain sensor combines thermomechanical programming with gradient architectural design. Preset strain rewrites the gauge factor (GF), while the gradient geometry amplifies the response through strain redistribution. Reprogrammable sensitivity enables the same sensor to detect weak pulse signals and monitor large‐amplitude ...

Adapted to roar: functional morphology of tiger and lion vocal folds. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Vocal production requires active control of the respiratory system, larynx and vocal tract. Vocal sounds in mammals are produced by flow-induced vocal fold oscillation, which requires vocal fold tissue that can sustain the mechanical stress during ...

Neuromorphic Devices for Extreme Environments: State‐Variable Reliability and Stabilization Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Neuromorphic devices for extreme environments are interpreted through the physical states that store and process information. Radiation, temperature extremes, and vacuum can perturb vacancies, filaments, trapped charges, polarization, interfaces, and readout signals.

Vocal fold cancer

open access: yesEuropean Annals of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Diseases, 2011
Ninety percent of vocal fold cancers take the form of squamous cell carcinoma. Since the 1980s, incidence in France has been constantly falling in males while increasing in females. The main risk factor is smoking, alcohol being less implicated than in other laryngeal or extralaryngeal locations. Vocal fold squamous cell carcinoma generally develops on

APTES‐Mediated Ti‐Squarate MOF/n‐GaN Nanowire Photoanodes for Efficient Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The APTES linker establishes a permanent interfacial dipole, reducing the work function of n‐GaN from 3.55 to 3.29 eV. This strengthens the built‐in electric field, significantly accelerating hole extraction to drive the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Ultimately, this tailored charge‐separation architecture achieves a remarkable 4.78‐fold enhancement

Vocal Fold Vibration and Vocal Fold Pathology.

open access: yesNihon Kikan Shokudoka Gakkai Kaiho, 2000
Many investigations have been conducted to clarify the relation between voice quality and vocal fold pathology. In these studies, it is usually emphasized that in order to understand the production mechanism of the pathological voice, it is essential to know details of vocal fold vibration.Since the vocal folds vibrate at a rate of approximately 100 to
