Decoding phonation with artificial intelligence (DeP AI): Proof of concept

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, 2019
Objective Acoustic analysis of voice has the potential to expedite detection and diagnosis of voice disorders. Applying an image‐based, neural‐network approach to analyzing the acoustic signal may be an effective means for detecting and differentially ...

An Investigation of Vocal Tract Characteristics for Acoustic Discrimination of Pathological Voices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper investigates the effectiveness of measures related to vocal tract characteristics in classifying normal and pathological speech. Unlike conventional approaches that mainly focus on features related to the vocal source, vocal tract ...

Relationships between the degree of lesion and that of vocal dysfunction in vocal fold polyp.

open access: yesNippon Jibiinkoka Gakkai Kaiho, 1990
Relationships between the degree of lesion and that of vocal dysfunction were investigated in 122 cases of vocal fold polyp. A normalized size of polyps and glottic gap were correlated to the results of phonatory ability tests, stroboscopic investigations, acoustic analyses, and perceptual evaluations.

Biomechanical and Vibratory Characterization of Synthetic Vocal Fold Phantoms Mimicking Pathological Conditions

open access: yesIEEE Access
This study investigates how benign vocal fold pathologies alter vibratory and biomechanical behavior through an integrated computational and experimental framework. Silicone phantoms representing healthy vocal folds, sulcus vocalis, and vocal fold polyps

Vocal Fold Vibrations In Dysphonia: Model Vs Measurement

open access: yes, 1986
Several investigators have conjectured that the electroglottographic (EGG) waveform is inversely proportional to the lateral area of contact of the vocal folds. But this conjecture is essentially impossible to substantiate by observations.
