Particle detection in VOF-simulations with OpenFOAM
The aim of this work is to improve the particle detection in the phase field of volume of fluid (VOF) simulations included in OpenFOAM. The reliable evaluation of the particle properties is a prerequisite for coupling the VOF method for the primary breakup with an Eulerian–Lagrangian simulation of the secondary breakup.

Microstructural abnormalities in the ATR and VOF underlie tone awareness deficits in Chinese children with developmental dyslexia: a DTI study [PDF]
ObjectiveTone awareness is crucial for reading in Chinese children, significantly affecting those with developmental dyslexia (DD). This paper identifies microstructural abnormalities in the inferior fronto-occipital fasciculus (IFOF), uncinate ...

Spheres, tears, and spears: Regulating the perimeter and circularity of millimeter-sized alginate hydrogel beads. [PDF]
Abstract Generating hydrogel beads pertains to many engineering applications. We examined two alginate‐based fluids at three concentrations of alginate, cAG. We used the “Map of Misery” to determine which material property (viscosity, elasticity, and inertia) drives droplet formation. Next, we measured the perimeter and circularity of hydrogel beads as

Numerical Study of the Effects of Non-Prismatic Floodplain Divergence Angle on Flow Velocity in the Cross Section of Compound Channels [PDF]
The formation of the secondary flows is caused by the non-prismatic nature of the main channel and floodplains in the compound channel and the intense interaction of the low-velocity flow of the floodplains in passing over the high-velocity flow of the ...

Numerical Modeling of Interactions between Solitary Waves and Floating Breakwaters [PDF]
In the current numerical work, a 2D wave tank has been planned to explain the shared impacts among three different solitary waves and three different floating breakwaters by applying Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes models and the volume of fluid method ...
