The Future of Research in Cognitive Robotics: Foundation Models or Developmental Cognitive Models?

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Research in cognitive robotics founded on principles of developmental psychology and enactive cognitive science would yield what we seek in autonomous robots: the ability to perceive its environment, learn from experience, anticipate the outcome of events, act to pursue goals, and adapt to changing circumstances without resorting to training with ...

Strong‐Magnetic Flexible Composites for Magnetically Responsive Soft Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This perspective provides an overview of the performance mechanisms, preparation methods, and applications of strong magnetic flexible composite materials in soft actuators (such as gripping, movement, and sensing), and further explores current opportunities and challenges.

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.

The Effect of Speaking Rate on Voice and Breathing Behavior

open access: yesJournal of Voice
The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of fast speaking on pause duration, breath group duration, and fundamental frequency (FO) in rote speech (counting).Twenty-eight healthy women (age 18-39) who had no experience of voice training, repeated a counting task in both a habitual and fast speaking rate.

Auditory–Tactile Congruence for Synthesis of Adaptive Pain Expressions in RoboPatients

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
In this work, we explore auditory–tactile congruence for synthesizing adaptive vocal pain expressions in robopatients. Using a robopatient platform that integrates vocal pain sounds with palpation forces, we conducted 7680 trials across 20 participants.

Backpropagation Through Soft Body: Investigating Information Processing in Brain–Body Coupling Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study explores how information processing is distributed between brains and bodies through a codesign approach. Using the “backpropagation through soft body” framework, brain–body coupling agents are developed and analyzed across several tasks in which output is generated through the agents’ physical dynamics.

A Multidirectional Textile Interface for Remote Control Using Dynamic Area‐Based Capacitance Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Here, we present a textile, wearable capacitive interface enabling multidirectional remote control by dynamically modulating electrode overlap and spacing via a freely gliding upper electrode. A forearm‐mounted prototype drives robotic and media tasks with 12–15 ms latency, maintains < 0.8% drift after 500 cycles, and remains stably functional at 90 ...

Linking high-involvement work systems to employee voice behavior: The mediating role of ambidextrous learning and the moderating role of digital leadership

open access: yesActa Psychologica
In the context of digital transformation, employee voice behavior has become increasingly important for organizational adaptation and improvement. However, prior studies on high-involvement work systems (HIWS) have not fully explained how HIWS lead to ...

Echo ‘Our’ Voice? The influences of team members on the voice behavior of focal employees

open access: yesJournal of Business Research
This study investigates the social processes that underpin the influences of team members’ voice behavior on the voice behavior of other individual members. The tests of the hypotheses, using survey data from 342 full-time employees working in 74 project teams in the IT industry, support the hypothesized links.
