Design and Optimization of Reduced Torque Ripple Rotary Voice Coil Motor
2018 XIII International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM), 2018Voice coil motors (VCMs) are becoming more popular due to their small size and high dynamic performance. They are commonly used in hard disk drives and vibration isolators in optical systems. Torque ripple is an important performance index for rotary VCM.

Vibration reduction control of a Voice Coil Motor (VCM) nano scanner
2007 7th IEEE Conference on Nanotechnology (IEEE NANO), 2007This paper presents vibration reduction control of a voice coil motor (VCM) nano scanner. We had developed a VCM scanner. The scanner has flexure hinges structure. However, the VCM nano scanner has some problems of thermal drift and small damping compared to the PZT driven nano scanner.

Voice coil motor nano stage with an eddy current damper
2008 10th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision, 2008This paper presents a nano positioning mechanism with flexure hinge and damper. The nano stage represented in this paper consists of a leaf spring guides and the voice coil motor (VCM) since it provides long working range and the control is easy. However, when the leaf spring is used alone, mechanism has very small damping, which reduces the system ...

Application of voice coil motors in active dynamic vibration absorbers
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2005A dynamic vibration absorber reduces the influence of a force whose excitation frequency nearly coincides with the natural frequency of a rotating machine. However, the performance of this type of passive absorber can be affected by changes in the environment.

Optimal control of a voice-coil-motor with Coulombic friction
2008 47th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2008The voice-coil-motor is a widely used mechatronic device, which represents a typical electrodynamic actuator for machine tool axes, bonding machines and hydraulic/pneumatic valve drives. One principal task consists in steering the system precisely to a prescribed target in minimal time or with minimal energy.

Thickness Minimized Magnetic Circuit for Rotary-Type Voice Coil Motor
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2005As the demand for small-form-factor disk drives for mobile devices increases, the miniaturization of voice coil motor (VCM) actuators playing important roles in track seeking and track following is an issue. In this study, we have determined that a multisegmented magnet array (MSMA) can reduce the total thickness of the magnetic circuit for a ...

Analysis of flat voice coil motor for precision positioning system
2011 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2011The analysis of a flat voice coil motor (VCM) with Halbach array structure is described. The motor is applied for precision positioning system. Because of omitting boundary condition, the method of images is adopted to predict the distributions of global and local magnetic field for obtaining precise calculations.

Auxiliary coupling disk for miniature vibration voice-coil motors
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005An auxiliary coupling disk for miniature vibration voice-coil motors aims to couple with a magnetic weight element to change the relative position of the auxiliary disk eccentric from the rotational center of the motor so that the magnetic weight element can generate vibration during rotation. The auxiliary coupling disk further can alter the vibration

Trajectory tracking control of voice coil motor under gravity disturbance
Proceeding of the 11th World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation, 2014In comparison with traditional servo motor systems, direct drive linear motors do not require any intermediate transmission link and have the advantages of simple mechanism, fast dynamic response, high precision, low noise and little vibration. In this work, we investigated the tracking control problems of a linear voice coil motor placed on the ...
